E.K. Baker Elementary will host Family Engagement Night and the annual PTO Auction on Friday, May 13th. The Family Engagement Event will begin at 5PM and the Auction will begin at 6PM. The classroom baskets will be featured in the auction along with many more items, and Kibo Japanese Kitchen will also be at the school. You do not want to miss it!

Our 8th grade students had a special guest speaker, Mr. Jake, visit them today to help wrap up their Holocaust unit. Mr. Jake is a Holocaust survivor, and our students enjoyed hearing his story. We are so thankful Mr. Jake came to visit! A special thank you to school board member, Mike Cochran for his support and for introducing Mr. Jake to E.K. Baker. Another special thank you to our 8th grade ELA teacher, Mrs. Heather Scheutzow for bringing awareness of the Holocaust to our students.
Today, we had a ribbon cutting for our newest addition at E.K. Baker! Our book vending machine was purchased for our school by our PTO. Students with perfect attendance during the third nine weeks of school were able to choose a book from the book vending machine. Thank you PTO for your continuous support of our students!

Spirit Week is next week, October 25th-29th.
On September 22nd, before classes started, some of our middle school students elected to take part in the "See You At The Pole" event. The "See You At The Pole" event is simply a time when students can choose to gather around the school flag pole and have a time of prayer.
E.K. Baker would like send a special thank you to all our volunteers! Our volunteers help make our school great! This week, School Board Member, Denise Cunningham showed up to lend a helping hand in our cafeteria along with Amber Garner, Debbie Trotter, Judy Malone, and Sarah Prince. Monday, September 20th, is Picture Day!
E.K. Baker Elementary is a level 5 based on academic growth for the 2020-2021 school year. A level 5 is the highest academic growth score that a school can receive. We are extremely proud of our faculty, staff, and students! This is a great accomplishment for any school, but it is AWESOME for E.K. Baker. The last time we received academic growth data we were a level 1. Our school has worked very hard to reach a level 5 status. Congratulations!
Our book fair is next week, August 23-27. Students will have an opportunity to visit and shop the book fair during school hours. However, using the provided link you can also shop the book fair and help our school raise money to purchase some new books for our library.
