Yellow Jackets of the Month! Congratulations to our February students, teacher, and staff member of the month! A student from each homeroom was chosen for being a team player. Then two students were randomly drawn to represent PreK-3rd grade and 4th-8th grade as the overall students of the month. Our teacher and staff member of the month were nominated by their colleagues for simply being outstanding and going above and beyond for our school. ***Not in the Picture: Ayvah Wilson-Watkins***

Each year our faculty and staff nominate two staff members as the Heart of our Program. This year we nominated Ms. Jennifer Fling (RTI Aide) and Mrs. Kathy Hennessee (Custodian). Both ladies constantly go above and beyond for our school. E.K. Baker would not be the same without them.
Congratulations to you both as you represent our school! We are extremely proud of you! Thank you for being the heart of our program.

Volleyball t-shirts and sweatshirts are now available! All orders and money due 2/12/24!

We are excited to tour MCHS next week! Before we know it, our E.K. Baker 8th graders will be freshmen in high school!

We had several students with perfect attendance for the first semester of school! Each student earned a certificate and an invite to Clearwater's perfect attendance lunch next week!

Mr. Privett's homeroom and Mrs. Wiseman's homeroom classes are our December attendance contest winners! Both classes earned a certificate and donuts. Mr. Privett's class has won three times and is now leading the school in this competition!

Welcome back E.K. Baker Family! Here are a few helpful reminders and self-care tips for students to use in order to stay healthy and well this winter. We are looking forward to a great second semester at E.K. Baker!

Congratulations to Mrs. Malone's class (for the second month in a row!) and Mr. Privett's class (for the second time!) for having the best attendance rates for the month! Classes were rewarded with certificates and are especially excited for their donut breakfast!

December is flying by, and we are excited for our upcoming break! This month, our students have focused on mental health and overall well-being as part of our counseling program curriculum. This week, many students have also participated in the One Life program, which has been very informative and helpful!

ATS the Bridge visited E.K. Baker on Tuesday for an engaging, interactive presentation for 5th-8th Grade! Mr. Jared taught students the realities of vaping and drugs, and he did an incredible job of doing so. ATS the Bridge also joined EKB for an informational parent meeting that same night! Thank you to ATS for caring for our students; we are eager for you all to join us again next semester!

In celebration of World Kindness Day, our 3rd-5th grade students read "A Flicker of Hope" and discussed ways to be a Hop Builder in others' lives. K-2nd learned about emotions and made their own "little spots" of feelings. These guidance lessons were a joy to be a part of!

E.K. Baker students (and teachers!) had a blast celebrating spirit week last week! Each day not only provided us with the opportunity to dress up, but to show our school spirit and to participate alongside others.

ATS the Bridge is only one week away! Please join us next Tuesday for a free meal and presentation. We hope to see you there!

Our K-2nd graders with perfect attendance for the first nine weeks celebrated with a special ice cream party today! Thank you to Clearwater Baptist Church for providing the ice cream and always making our kids feel special!

Congratulations to Mrs. Malone's 4th grade class and Mr. Hughes' homeroom class for having the best attendance rates for October! Both classes celebrated with donuts and a special certificate. Mr. Hughes' class has won this award TWICE in a row for this school year!

Come join us on November 14th for a free meal and a presentation by ATS the Bridge! We look forward to seeing you there!

E.K. Baker students celebrated Red Ribbon Week last week! All K-8 students received high-impact lessons on drug prevention/awareness. K-2 students learned about making good choices and the importance of knowing their safe adults. 3rd-5th grade students learned to "just say no" to any unsafe choices. Middle school students (not pictured) heard from Natural High (a drug prevention/awareness organization for youth) and made drug awareness posters. We are also looking forward to hearing from ATS the Bridge in a few weeks!
"Be Kind to Your Mind: Live Drug Free!"

Congratulations to Kaylen Leekley and Luke Hughes for being selected as the 2023-2024 Youth Appreciation Award winners! These students are hardworking and diligent in all they do, and we are proud to have them represent E.K. Baker. The Optimist Club has invited both students to celebrate their achievements at Tennessee Wesleyan this month. We are so proud of you, Kaylen and Luke!

Today we celebrated our first Perfect Attendance lunch of the year at Clearwater Baptist Church! Students who are present each day of the 9-week period are invited to a fun afternoon of lunch, games, and prizes. Thank you to Clearwater for your generosity to E.K. Baker students!
