Happy National School Counseling Week! Here at EK Baker, we strive to provide a well-rounded counseling program that supports students and families. It is through the tremendous support from our faculty/staff and our community that this is possible. We appreciate your help in making this program successful and helping it grow!

Love Thy Neighbor is a local program that provides and distributes snack packs to several McMinn County Schools, including E.K. Baker! They are looking for additional community members to help sponsor a child or help fund their program. We are grateful for their contributions to EKB and are proud to be partnered in their mission to help others!

3rd-5th grade students have been learning about supporting others at school and being a good friend during classroom guidance lessons and the BEE the Friend Program. Their teachers noticed a few students who have been demonstrating kindness and friendship towards others, and we have recognized these students with a "Reward Bee" and a prize! Great job EKB students!

Some of this month's guidance lessons! 2nd grade read "But It's Just A Game!" and discussed having a "life" controller that will help us make good decisions and put family, friends, and school before video games! 3rd grade read "A Flicker of Hope" as part of our BEE the Friend Curriculum and did an activity to learn how to "share the light" with others. 1st grade read "The Worry Monsters" and made their very own coping skills monster to use when they are anxious/afraid!

Youth Leadership Day was a huge success! EKB was represented very well by Sheila Rodriguez (7th) and Ayden Brewer (8th). Two of our former 8th graders, Kaylen Leekley and Madiln Lynn, also represented MCHS. Students visited college classrooms, received a campus tour, and enjoyed lunch in the Cafeteria. We are grateful for the efforts and dedication from McMinn County Education Foundation and TWU to instill values and qualities in our students that will help them become successful. We are proud of all our Baker Youth Leaders!
