Two of our students, Ayden Brewer and Jacoby Williams, received the Dream Achievers Award today! This award recognizes the hard work and dedication these students have exhibited this school year. Ayden and Jacoby also received a scholarship certificate from Tennessee Wesleyan University. Congratulations, students! EKB is so proud of you!
Next week is Kindness week, and we're celebrating with some FUN dress-up days! We can't wait to see what our students come up with!
Yesterday was 8th grade day! Students first visited MCHS, where they were warmly greeted and welcomed by some amazing students/faculty. Our future freshman were able to explore classes, meet teachers, and learn from current students! After a delicious lunch at the Gondolier, we visited TCAT, where instructors talked to students about future career opportunities through their programs. Thank you to both MCHS and TCAT for giving us a wonderful field trip day!
Check out what's happening at McMinn County Schools this month!
Our counseling program is dedicated to helping students thrive socially/emotionally. These "take what you need boards" are meant to encourage students and to inspire them to pass on kindness to their friends and family! Students, you are loved by EKB! 💛
Happy National School Counseling Week! To celebrate, we will be sharing what students have been doing as a part of the program and how our program makes a difference! Here at E.K. Baker, we work as a team to provide the best education experience for our students, and all faculty/staff are integral in the function of our school counseling program. Thank you for your support!
Last week, we celebrated our Perfect Attendance Lunch at Clearwater Baptist Church! We ate Bojangles, decorated cookies, and played Christmas games (including an indoor snowball fight!). Thank you again to Clearwater for a fantastic day!
Happy School Counselor's Week! At E.K. Baker, we have the best in Mrs. Skylar Brannon! She goes above and beyond for our students, and is always extremely positive. She continues to do tremendous things in our counseling program. We are blessed to have Mrs. Brannon!
Yellow Jackets of the Month! Congratulations to our February students, teacher, and staff member of the month! A student from each homeroom was chosen for being a team player. Then two students were randomly drawn to represent PreK-3rd grade and 4th-8th grade as the overall students of the month. Our teacher and staff member of the month were nominated by their colleagues for simply being outstanding and going above and beyond for our school. ***Not in the Picture: Ayvah Wilson-Watkins***
Each year our faculty and staff nominate two staff members as the Heart of our Program. This year we nominated Ms. Jennifer Fling (RTI Aide) and Mrs. Kathy Hennessee (Custodian). Both ladies constantly go above and beyond for our school. E.K. Baker would not be the same without them.
Congratulations to you both as you represent our school! We are extremely proud of you! Thank you for being the heart of our program.
Volleyball t-shirts and sweatshirts are now available! All orders and money due 2/12/24!
We are excited to tour MCHS next week! Before we know it, our E.K. Baker 8th graders will be freshmen in high school!
We had several students with perfect attendance for the first semester of school! Each student earned a certificate and an invite to Clearwater's perfect attendance lunch next week!
Mr. Privett's homeroom and Mrs. Wiseman's homeroom classes are our December attendance contest winners! Both classes earned a certificate and donuts. Mr. Privett's class has won three times and is now leading the school in this competition!
Welcome back E.K. Baker Family! Here are a few helpful reminders and self-care tips for students to use in order to stay healthy and well this winter. We are looking forward to a great second semester at E.K. Baker!
Congratulations to Mrs. Malone's class (for the second month in a row!) and Mr. Privett's class (for the second time!) for having the best attendance rates for the month! Classes were rewarded with certificates and are especially excited for their donut breakfast!
December is flying by, and we are excited for our upcoming break! This month, our students have focused on mental health and overall well-being as part of our counseling program curriculum. This week, many students have also participated in the One Life program, which has been very informative and helpful!
ATS the Bridge visited E.K. Baker on Tuesday for an engaging, interactive presentation for 5th-8th Grade! Mr. Jared taught students the realities of vaping and drugs, and he did an incredible job of doing so. ATS the Bridge also joined EKB for an informational parent meeting that same night! Thank you to ATS for caring for our students; we are eager for you all to join us again next semester!
In celebration of World Kindness Day, our 3rd-5th grade students read "A Flicker of Hope" and discussed ways to be a Hop Builder in others' lives. K-2nd learned about emotions and made their own "little spots" of feelings. These guidance lessons were a joy to be a part of!
E.K. Baker students (and teachers!) had a blast celebrating spirit week last week! Each day not only provided us with the opportunity to dress up, but to show our school spirit and to participate alongside others.
